The holidays may be over, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had in Greensboro in January! In fact, we found some unique events that are a little crazy and lots of fun, including a pinball tournament and pop-up parties. Here are five of our top picks for things to do in Greensboro this month.
“Selfie” Pinball Tournament
Show off your gaming chops and participate in Boxcar Bar + Arcade free, month-long “Selfie” pinball tournament. Register using this form and take a “selfie” of your best scores on five out of six selected machines, including Star Trek and The Walking Dead, between Jan. 1st and Jan. 31st. If you’re in the top 16 scorers, you’ll then be invited to compete in a final round at Boxcar on Saturday, Feb. 3rd for cool prizes!
Pop-Up Dance Club
Get your groove on at Print Works Bistro’s Pop-Up Dance Party on Jan. 5th! DJ Jessica Mashburn spins dance tunes every First Friday starting at 10 p.m., when part of the restaurant transforms into a great dance room! The party won’t stop until 1 a.m., and there’s no cover charge! If you arrive earlier for dinner you can order from a special four-course prix fixe menu or the full menu.
District 39 Pop-Up Restaurant
Enjoy a night of fun, music, and amazing food at the District 39 Pop-Up Restaurant Jan. 12th! Chat with the restaurant’s head chef and the owners while sipping complimentary champagne. While the pop-up restaurant location isn’t listed online, you will receive the address and menu after you purchase a ticket.
Are you ready for an unexpected, unscripted, unforgettable night of motoring fun? Monster Jam is taking center stage Jan. 12 and 13th at Greensboro Coliseum! Watch larger-than-life trucks take on meticulously manicured dirt tracks created with the sole purpose of pushing these perfectly engineered vehicles to the limit. Arrive early (between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.) for the Pit Party to get up close and personal to the Monster Jam trucks and their drivers. After the show, you can vote for the truck winner in the donut, wheelie, and freestyle competitions using your smartphone and see real-time results in the arena.
Do you love the theatre? See the premier of several new shows that you can’t see anywhere else at the 15th annual Fringe Festival Jan. 19th through Feb. 6th. This festival held in downtown Greensboro celebrates live theatre and dance by showcasing new and innovative performing artists’ work in a professional environment.
